Grâce au succès de son 1er single, la maison de disque Sire Records donne son feu vert pour l’enregistrement de ce 2nd single, produit par Reggie lucas et John Benitez. Malgré un rythme dance apprécié, la critique est assez peu élogieuse, la trouvant composée trop rapidement et trop sombre. Accompagné du titre « Physical Attraction » en face B, ce titre ne sera pas un grand succès commercial même s’il atteint une bonne place dans les hits-parades de dance music. Le clip quant à lui, qui montre Madonna dansant sur une route de nuit, est décrit comme la prise de contrôle d’une sexualité masculine déstabilisée !
