2nd extrait de l’album « Like a prayer », ce titre prône l’émancipation des femmes et les pousse à exprimer leurs sentiments. C’est une chanson inspirée d’omis Redding très optimiste et dance-pop, soutenue par des cuivres, percussions et saxophone. Hymne de liberté par excellence, la critique est bonne soutenant le message d’égalité mis en avant. Le public ne s’y trompe pas et en fait un vrai succès partout dans le monde en classant le titre n°1.
Le clip, réalisé par David Fincher, s’inspire du film « Metropolis » de Fritz Lang. C’est l’un des clips les plus chers de l’histoire (3ème aujourd’hui). La vidéo montre une ville remplie de gratte-ciels et des voies ferrées. Madonna joue une femme séduisante et masochiste qui exploite une image masculine et androgyne et va jusqu’à passer une nuit torride avec l’un des hommes qu’elle fait travailler (den l’espèce le top model Cameron Alborzian).
