RAY OF LIGHT est choisi comme 2nd single de l’album éponyme. Un titre très électro, entraînant et « festif », adoré des fans, qui va rencontrer sans conteste un vrai succès commercial, débutant à la 5ème place dans les charts américains avant d’en atteindre le sommet ! Cette chanson se classera en tête de tous les hits-parades du monde !

Pour la vidéo, Madonna s’associe pour la 1ère fois (mais pas la dernière) à Jonas Åkerlund qui réalise un clip détonant, tourné en partie à New York et en Suède, détonnant, et qui montre dans un rythme effréné  les gens dans leur routine quotidienne ! Cette vidéo, encensée par la critique, gagnera plusieurs prix aux MYV Music Awards 1998 dont meilleure vidéo, meilleure vidéo féminine, meilleure chorégraphie …
