Madonna poursuit sa quête de reconnaissance dans le milieu du cinéma. Elle joue un second rôle dans le film A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN (« Une équipe hors du commun« ) aux côtés de Tom Hanks, Geena Davis et Rosie O’Donnell. Elle est également choisie pour interpréter la chanson thème du film THIS USED TO BE MY PLAYGROUND qu’elle co-écrit avec Shep Pettibone. Pourtant le titre, qui rythme le film, n’est pas présent sur la Bande Originale, sa licence interdisant que les chansons de Madonna soient mélangées sur une compilation avec d’autres artistes !
